The Reviews for Tomorrow You're Gone (2012) 720p

How could a film with so much talent be this drab?Reviewed bycallanvassVote: 1/10

(Credit IMDb) Charlie Rankin, recently released from prison, seeks vengeance for his jail-house mentor William "The Buddha" Pettigrew. Along the way, he meets the ethereal, yet streetwise, Florence Jane. They embark on a unlikely road trip, careening towards an unlikely redemption and uncertain resolution. What a mess. I'm not the biggest Stephen Dorff fan, but he is fully capable of being a good actor. He seems to be phoning it in half the time here, and I don't blame him. I didn't really feel any sympathy for his character to be honest. What happened to Michelle Monaghan? She was a top actress at one point, now that seems to be a distant memory. Her character is incredibly flirtatious, but not exactly sexy. Her character becomes overly redundant and unlikable. She had no chemistry with Duff at all. She was also pretentious in the extreme. Willem Dafoe is here for a paycheck, plain and simple. Why on earth would I wanna spend time with these people, let alone feel sorry for them? I was given no reason to. The movie moves along at a snail's pace throughout, providing non-stop doldrums. The title gives away the ending to this movie if you pay enough attention. I did, and I regret it. This was an incredibly awkward and painful experience. It has no thrills, lacks efficient drama, and it's poorly acted as well. If you like watching paint dry, this will be right up your alley. I hated it. These are the types of movies where I wish IMDb allowed a "bomb" rating DUD

TOMORROW YOU'RE GONE is no thriller, which is not, of course, an entirely bad thing. It's a strange, dreamlike, and fairly uneventful film about Charlie Rankin (Dorff) being released after a four-year stint in prison, intent on wreaking vengeance on those who put him there and performing "hits" against adversaries of "The Buddha"(Dafoe), another former--now dead?--inmate who acts as his ethereal mentor. He also meets "Florence Jane" (Monaghan) the girl of many-a-guy's dreams, but not Rankin's, who just wants to be friends with her. Florence Jane, it would seem, is a sort of guardian angel figure save, perhaps, the "guardian" part. Much of it is open to interpretation, and much of it simply doesn't make a whole lot of sense. More thematic and atmospheric than action-oriented, TOMORROW YOU'RE GONE is well-filmed and well-played, and much of the script (especially Florence Jane's) is quite memorable without being overly pretentious: See the quote from "The Buddha" used as my title here. TYG also has things to show and tell us about the futility of vengeance, the destructive nature of bitterness, and various other things. If only the plot were better. . .

Snail Paced- Terribly Muddled NoirReviewed byLarry SilversteinVote: 1/10

Well, it isn't the first time I've wasted $1.27 at redbox, and I'm sure it won't be the last. I usually like the film work of all three leads, Stephen Dorff, Michelle Monaghan, and Willem Dafoe. However, how they all got involved in this disastrously muddled and nonsensical noir is beyond me. Dorff portrays Charlie Rankin who is not the "sharpest knife in the drawer", so to speak. He's just been released from prison after a 4 year stint. In jail, he met a man called the Buddha (Dafoe), who now has arranged for Charlie to pick up a bag of money and a gun at a bus terminal locker. The Buddha wants Charlie to kill a man named Ornay Corale, in Willimette. While riding on a bus he meets the sultry Flo (Monaghan), who's a porno actress and who invites Charlie up to her apartment to see one of her films. Let's just say Flo likes to use her feet a lot and is seemingly always "hot to trot". Charlie leaves and goes to carry out his "hit", but there's an additional person in the house, and things go awry. The way the movie plays out, it perhaps is supposed to be some kind of bizarre David Lynch type film. It's full of incredibly stilted dialogue and moves along at a snails' pace. Let's just say it all ends on a highly melodramatic note. By this point the only thing I wanted to end was the film.
