The Reviews for Batman vs. Robin (2015) 720p

Very dark, but goodReviewed byrprince-832-6294Vote: 7/10

-Batman vs. Robin (2015) movie review: -In honor of the new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice teaser trailer, I thought I would review this recent animated film from the DC Universe. Batman vs. Robin, which I am assuming follows the comic series, follows Damian Wayne, one of the latter Robins, who struggles with the moral issue of killing, which Batman enforces against, and outside influence from a dangerous secret society The Court of Owls.

-Wow that was dark. I don't follow any of the animated Batman series, or other animated Batman films, or the Batman comics, but I enjoyed it for what it was.

-The story was well told and, although sometimes forced, compelling. It stayed on track too, which I appreciate.

-The pace was good. Very good.

-The voice acting was fine. The kid who played Robin did a good job as young Robin. The lead Owl guy was good, but generic. The guy who plays Nightwing (Original Robin gone independent) was good. I honestly though the voice for Batman was the weakest of the bunch. Strongest of the bunch? 'Weird Al' Yankovic as The Dollmaker. You'll see?.

-The characters seemed pretty accurate to what I know about them, and I enjoyed watching the internal struggles they had. I also liked that they had one of each type of Batman villain, a complete psycho and an organization trying to take order through chaos.

-I didn't really care much for the music, but it seemed above par for an animated Batman film.

-Other than that I don't know what else to judge, mainly because I know little about the comic it is based on. I will say is just seemed way too dark for animated. I think it was darker than the live action Batman films, minus The Dark Knight of course.

-An entertaining, more mature take on a Batman comic that keeps the audience interested the entire time? Totally worth Netflix rating. I honestly wouldn't pay to see it because of the overall darker tone though. For example: -Batman vs. Robin holds a PG-13 rating for a good amount of language, violence, and suggestive material throughout. That is why I didn't enjoy it as much.

Darker Batman filmReviewed byjwwalrath-227-85487Vote: 8/10

This is a sequel to Batman and Son and is a vast improvement. The first film suffered from a weak story and dialogue and overall felt like a neutered adaptation of the comics. The studio must have learned from this as more emphasis is put on characters and goes for a more mature feel. (Fun fact: This is written by J.M. DeMatteis, writer for the Blue Beetle/Buster Gold era of the Justice League and Spider-Man's Kraven's Last Hunt storyline.)

The driving force of the film is Batman's conflicted relationship with his son Damian. There are just a lot of layers to these too. The main villain Talon is also quite interesting as he bonds with Damian and tries to steer him away from Batman's guidance.

Bare in mind this film isn't perfect. Some of the voice acting is very good (Robin, Talon) and some pretty bad (especially Batman.) Though Talon is an enjoyable villain, his employers are underdeveloped in motivations and plans.

I also have mixed feelings about how dark this film gets sometimes. On one hand, I applaud the filmmakers for taking risks. (The Dollmaker is a creatively creepy villain in his design.) But on the other hand it also feels like they were trying too hard to be dark and it reeks a bit of realism and trying too hard to make Batman horror.

Overall, I think the film is worth a watch.

Loosely based on Scott Snyder's terrible Court of Owls story from the comics. It was a huge retcon-heavy piece of crap. The story for this movie is about a secret vigilante organization named the Court of Owls that tries to use Batman's son (and current Robin) Damian to get at Batman. As with the last movie, Son of Batman, Damian is the best part of this. The voicework is competent but unimpressive. I still remain a critic of Jason O'Mara's nasally Batman. The story is a mess that only skirts the edges of making sense. Trust me, the comics were worse. If you're unfamiliar with the comics you will likely be lost. Even if you saw Son of Batman, you will probably still be lost. There's some decent action in the last quarter that helps in a "turn off your brain and enjoy it" sort of way but it's ultimately just one of those things that's worth watching once and then forgetting. Oh and for parents who may care: this movie, like most of the recent DC animated movies, is full of violence, coarse language, and as much nudity and sexuality as they can get away with. Even Bruce Wayne's mom is "sexied up" in a flashback. So think about that, as well as the overly complicated plot only the initiated can follow, before you subject your kids to this.
